Proper lighting is essential for functional vision.
Daylight, also known as full spectrum light, enhances visual tasks, while incandescent light, which falls into the yellow tones, dulls the vision.
Typically, one assumes that replacing an incandescent bulb for one of a stronger intensity will help, it can create problems with glare for the user. It is suggested, therefore, to reconsider the lighting in your reading and work areas.
One type of light source needs to provide a concentrated light used for specific task purposes such as letter writing or reading.
A second type is one that brightens up the entire room such as a halogen lamp or lamp with a fluorescent light bulb.
Proper lighting and magnification aids can significantly reduce eyestrain,
and help to add quality to life and maintain independence.
